Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assess pediatric patients pre-operatively and document findings clearly
Prepare patients and families for procedures with compassion and clarity
Collaborate with surgical and perioperative teams to ensure safe handoffs
Administer prescribed medications and follow pre-op protocols accurately
Monitor patients’ vitals and escalate any concerns promptly
Educate caregivers on pre-op instructions and post-op expectations

Qualifications

Current RN license (required for practice in Massachusetts)
Pediatric clinical experience, ideally in a pre-op or perioperative setting
BLS certification required; PALS or other pediatric certifications preferred
Strong communication skills for working with children and families
Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment and adapt to schedule changes

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of pre-operative assessment and pediatric care best practices
Skill in medication administration and documentation
Familiarity with perioperative protocols and surgical workflows
Ability to educate and reassure patients and families in stressful situations
Team-oriented approach and effective interdisciplinary communication
