Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
- Continuously assess and monitor patient status, intervening promptly for changes
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the care team to develop and implement care plans
- Educate and support families through complex care decisions and transitions
- Participate in orientation and unit-specific training to maintain best practices
- Contribute to a culture of safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-appropriate) — ability to obtain California licensure if not already held
- Experience or strong interest in pediatric critical care / PICU nursing
- Current BLS; PALS and ACLS preferred or supported through employer-sponsored training
- Strong assessment, critical thinking and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team and during orientation
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and PICU workflows
- Familiarity with ventilator management, infusion pumps, and advanced monitoring
- Skilled in medication administration, titration, and accurate documentation
- Comfortable engaging with families and explaining complex clinical information clearly
- Ability to prioritize in fast-paced, high-acuity situations
