Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient conditions and triage needs with sharp clinical judgment to keep care timely and safe
• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to PCU patients, focusing on recovery and comfort
• Monitor telemetry and other vital signs closely and act quickly on changes in condition
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while following safety protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement effective care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans in a clear, supportive way
• Document assessments, interventions and patient responses thoroughly in the medical record
• Participate in orientation and unit-based training to support a strong, consistent team

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in Kentucky or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start
• Experience working in a Progressive Care Unit or similar acute care setting preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort with telemetry monitoring and IV/medication administration
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
• Professional attitude, adaptability, and commitment to delivering patient-centered care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in patient assessment, telemetry interpretation and early recognition of deterioration
• Skilled in IV therapy, medication administration and complex care coordination
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to prioritize workload, multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong teamwork, communication and patient education abilities
