Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor critically ill patients, noticing subtle changes and acting decisively
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately following unit protocols
• Operate and manage critical care equipment and monitors with vigilance
• Coordinate care with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary team
• Respond rapidly to emergencies and participate in life-saving interventions
• Document patient status and care activities clearly and professionally
• Support orientation and training activities for new staff as needed

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license (eligible to practice in Kentucky)
• Prior ICU or critical care experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) highly recommended
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and bedside decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities in fast-paced settings
• Willingness to participate in orientation and unit-specific training

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred where available

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing principles and best practices
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Ventilator management and respiratory support knowledge
• Medication administration in critical care, including titration and infusion pumps
• Accurate clinical documentation and charting
• Patient and family-centered care with strong interpersonal skills
