Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to pediatric intensive care patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor patient status continuously
• Administer medications and therapies safely and accurately per orders
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to develop and update care plans
• Operate and troubleshoot critical care equipment and monitor ventilator and hemodynamic parameters
• Educate and support families, providing clear communication during high-stress situations
• Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record
• Participate in orientation and unit-based training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of California (or eligibility to obtain)
• Experience in pediatric critical care or PICU preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to provide high-acuity pediatric nursing care and handle critical situations calmly
• Current immunizations and ability to pass background checks and required screenings
• Strong teamwork, communication, and clinical judgment skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in pediatric assessment and recognition of rapidly changing clinical status
• Familiarity with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Medication administration and pediatric dosing accuracy
• Proficient documentation in electronic medical records
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary care team
• Patient- and family-centered communication and education skills
