Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, family-centered critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
• Assess patients, monitor vital signs, and intervene promptly for changes in condition
• Administer medications, manage lines and ventilators as indicated, and document care accurately
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and update individualized care plans
• Educate and support families during critical care episodes with compassion and clear communication
• Ensure adherence to unit protocols, safety standards, and infection control practices
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain clinical competence

Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio (or compact RN license where applicable)
• Experience or training in Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) preferred
• Current BLS required; PALS strongly preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfort with pediatric critical care equipment and monitoring
• Ability to pass required background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric critical care principles and age-specific assessment
• Airway and ventilator management basics in the pediatric population
• Medication administration and titration for critically ill children
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Team-based communication and handoff best practices
• Calm decision-making in high-acuity situations
• Family-centered care and caregiver education techniques
