Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, family-centered nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Assess, monitor and document patient status using evidence-based practices and clinical judgment
• Administer medications, treatments and advanced interventions safely and accurately
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team (physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists) to create and execute individualized care plans
• Educate and support families through complex care plans and emotionally charged situations
• Respond promptly to emergencies and assist in resuscitation and stabilization efforts
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with policies and best practices

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — ability to obtain Ohio licensure if not already licensed
• Experience or specialization in Pediatric ICU nursing (PICU) preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and ACLS preferred or required depending on facility policy
• Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and ability to function in high-acuity settings
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass facility-required screenings

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and interventions
• Familiarity with ventilator management and advanced airway support in pediatric patients
• Proficiency with infusion pumps, hemodynamic monitoring, and PICU-specific equipment
• Ability to interpret labs, monitor trends, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Comfort with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Strong situational awareness and prioritization in a fast-paced environment
