Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide specialized pediatric critical care for PICU patients with clinical skill and compassion
• Monitor, assess, and document patient status, responding promptly to changes
• Administer medications and manage advanced therapies and equipment safely
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with families to keep them informed and supported
• Participate in orientation and unit-specific training to maintain competency and best practices
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring peers and promoting teamwork

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Massachusetts (or compact license where applicable)
• Clinical experience or strong interest in pediatric intensive care (PICU)
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required; additional certifications encouraged
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and emergency response skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Clear background checks and immunizations per facility policy

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• BSN preferred for career growth and specialty practice

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric critical care assessment and intervention
• Familiarity with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
• Safe medication administration and IV/central line care
• Family-centered communication and bedside teaching
• Electronic medical record documentation proficiency
• Ability to prioritize and multitask under pressure
