Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, family-centered critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
- Assess and monitor patient condition, recognizing and responding to changes quickly
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team on care plans
- Maintain clear, timely documentation in the medical record
- Support and educate families through complex and stressful situations
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (as required by employer) — ability to practice in Massachusetts expected
- Experience or strong interest in pediatric critical care (PICU experience preferred)
- Current BLS and PALS certifications (or willingness to obtain during orientation)
- Comfort with acute care skills: IV/arterial line management, ventilator care, vasoactive medications
- Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred or equivalent clinical experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and best practices
- Skilled in patient assessment, hemodynamic monitoring, and ventilator management
- Familiarity with medication administration and titration for critically ill children
- Ability to document accurately in electronic medical records
- Compassionate family communication and teaching skills
