Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients, ensuring safe recovery and comfort
• Continuously monitor vital signs and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and post-op treatments per physician orders with accuracy and attention to detail
• Perform thorough handoffs and documentation to maintain continuity of care
• Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the perioperative team for coordinated patient care
• Educate families and caregivers on recovery expectations and safe discharge instructions
• Participate in orientation and unit training to maintain high standards of pediatric PACU practice

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Missouri
• Experience or clinical exposure in PACU, post-anesthesia care, or pediatrics preferred
• BLS required; PALS and/or ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfort working with pediatric patients and their families in a perioperative setting
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
• Completion of basic nursing program and current RN licensure in Missouri

Knowledge & Skills

• Post-anesthesia assessment and monitoring
• Pediatric patient care principles and family-centered communication
• Medication administration and IV management in post-op patients
• Accurate clinical documentation and handoff practices
• Infection control and safety protocols in perioperative settings
• Teamwork, adaptability, and calm decision-making in fast-paced environments
