Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate post-anesthesia care for pediatric patients in the PACU
- Continuously assess and monitor patient vital signs and recovery status
- Implement pain management and recovery protocols to support rapid, comfortable recovery
- Collaborate clearly with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and families to ensure seamless handoffs
- Document care accurately in the patient record and escalate concerns promptly
- Participate in orientation and team training to maintain high standards of pediatric care
Qualifications
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Missouri
- BLS required; PALS strongly preferred for pediatric post-anesthesia care
- Experience in PACU or pediatric recovery nursing is preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a perioperative environment
- Ability to pass required health screenings and background checks
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
- BSN preferred but ADN considered with relevant experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Pediatric post-anesthesia recovery principles and monitoring
- Airway management and emergent response procedures
- IV therapy, medication administration, and pain management strategies
- Clinical assessment and documentation skills
- Team-focused communication with surgical and anesthesia teams
