Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
• Prepare the OR and surgical team by ensuring sterile technique and readiness of instruments and supplies
• Perform thorough patient assessments pre-, intra-, and post-operatively and communicate changes promptly
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and ancillary staff to facilitate efficient, high-quality surgical care
• Advocate for patient safety, infection control, and adherence to clinical protocols
• Document care accurately in the medical record and participate in handoffs and team briefings

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Louisiana
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; perioperative certifications (CNOR) encouraged
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced operating room environment with strong clinical judgment
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary surgical teams
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background and health screening as required by facility

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and perioperative infection prevention
• Familiarity with OR instruments, surgical procedures, and instrument processing
• Skilled in patient assessment, monitoring, and intraoperative documentation
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and situational awareness
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt to changing surgical schedules
