Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for patients in the operating room
• Prepare the OR and instruments, maintain sterile field, and ensure surgical team readiness
• Monitor patient status before, during, and after procedures and communicate changes promptly
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and techs to streamline workflow
• Document care accurately and efficiently to support continuity and compliance
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Experience working in the operating room (OR) or perioperative setting
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced certifications (ACLS, CNOR) preferred
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and perioperative protocols
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure
• Proof of required immunizations and background checks as per facility policy

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and patient safety practices
• Sterile technique, instrument handling, and surgical counts
• Patient assessment and intraoperative monitoring
• Familiarity with common surgical procedures and OR equipment
• Teamwork, clear communication, and situational awareness in fast-paced settings
• Electronic health record documentation and medication administration best practices
