Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing surgery
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field, instruments and supplies for procedures
- Assist the surgical team during intraoperative care with vigilance and teamwork
- Perform preoperative assessments and ensure accurate handoffs and documentation
- Advocate for patient safety, infection control and adherence to facility protocols
- Educate patients and families on perioperative expectations and post-op care
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for practice in Louisiana
- Perioperative nursing experience or strong interest in OR practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, advanced certifications encouraged
- CNOR certification preferred but not required
- Ability to work collaboratively with surgical teams and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of perioperative nursing principles and aseptic technique
- Familiarity with operating room instrumentation and sterile processing
- Strong patient assessment, monitoring and documentation skills
- Effective communication and teamwork in high-stakes settings
- Comfort using electronic medical records and perioperative documentation systems
