Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for patients in the operating room
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the surgical team to coordinate procedures
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure all instruments and supplies are available
• Monitor patient status intraoperatively and communicate changes promptly to the team
• Document patient care, procedures, and perioperative events accurately and timely
• Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact/multi-state as applicable)
• Experience in operating room/perioperative nursing (OR experience preferred)
• Current BLS certification; ACLS or specialty certifications encouraged when applicable
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Ability to follow sterile technique and perioperative policies and protocols

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and active RN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of perioperative nursing standards and sterile technique
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, supplies, and OR workflows
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and maintain situational awareness
• Skilled in patient assessment, monitoring, and documentation during procedures
• Comfortable with collaborative problem solving and quick decision making
