Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care in the operating room
- Prepare the OR and necessary equipment for surgical procedures
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and the perioperative team to ensure smooth cases
- Monitor patient status and intervene promptly to maintain patient safety
- Maintain sterile technique and uphold infection prevention standards
- Document assessments, interventions, and perioperative activities accurately
- Participate in team huddles and contribute to continuous improvement in the OR
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (required)
- Previous Operating Room/perioperative nursing experience preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced certifications encouraged
- CNOR certification preferred but not required
- Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced OR environment and maintain patient safety
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing standards and sterile technique
- Familiarity with common surgical instruments, equipment, and OR workflows
- Patient assessment and intraoperative monitoring
- Clear communication with multidisciplinary surgical teams
- Time management and the ability to prioritize in high-acuity situations
