Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver expert perioperative nursing care for orthopedic major joint, general, urology, and minor vascular cases
• Prepare and maintain a safe, sterile operating room environment following AORN guidelines
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical techs, and support staff to ensure smooth case flow
• Operate and support specialized OR equipment (Stryker systems, MAKO/OMNI navigation, DIV Xi robots)
• Document patient care accurately in MEDITECH and communicate handoffs clearly
• Assist with patient positioning, instrument setup, counts, and perioperative assessments
• Support unit staffing needs including floating to other areas when ORs are down

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with perioperative/OR experience
• Minimum 2 years of relevant OR nursing experience (must have ortho experience)
• BLS certification required
• Orthopedic major joint experience required; general surgery, open urology/cysto, and minor vascular experience highly desired
• Familiarity with MEDITECH documentation
• CNOR or similar perioperative certification a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of orthopedic surgical procedures and instrumentation
• Comfortable with Stryker ortho systems, Stryker lap towers, MAKO and OMNI navigation
• Experience supporting and positioning for robotic cases (DIV Xi robots)
• Understanding of sterile technique, counts, and perioperative safety standards
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced OR with teamwork and excellent communication
• Familiarity with MEDITECH electronic documentation and perioperative workflows
