Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for oncology and women’s surgical patients
• Perform thorough assessments, monitor patients overnight, and respond to changes in condition
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely, following hospital protocols and chemotherapy guidelines when qualified
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and ensure smooth handoffs
• Document care accurately in Cerner EMR and maintain clear communication with families and providers
• Support unit workflow and staffing needs, including occasional float to other med-surg units

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in oncology or med-surg
• BLS certification (required)
• Chemo certification preferred but not required
• Experience with Cerner or other EMR systems preferred
• Team-player attitude, willingness to learn, and comfort working overnight shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing fundamentals and comfort with chemo-related care when certified
• Med-Surg nursing experience and ability to manage a 1:4 or 1:5 patient ratio
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR for documentation and medication administration
• Strong assessment, IV/infusion, and medication administration skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education abilities
• Ability to follow unit policies, handle occasional pelvic exams, echoes and thoracentesis support
