Shift Type: 12.5-hour shifts, schedule to be determined (Neuro Stepdown/SDU)

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to Neuro Stepdown (SDU) patients
Perform focused neurological assessments and monitor telemetry/physiologic data
Administer medications and intravenous therapies safely and accurately
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
Document patient care thoroughly in the medical record and communicate changes promptly
Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or nurse compact license
Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
Experience or training in Neuro Stepdown/SDU, telemetry, or progressive care
Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills and teamwork mindset

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Proficient in neurological assessments and recognizing changes in neuro status
Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and interpreting vital trends
Skilled in medication administration, IV management, and post-procedural care
Comfortable with electronic health record documentation and care coordination
Ability to prioritize tasks and respond quickly in urgent situations
