Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the Med/Surg unit
• Assess and monitor patient condition, intervening and escalating as needed
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Document assessments, interventions and patient responses clearly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge planning
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives
• Respond effectively to emergencies and support unit flow during busy periods

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in New Hampshire
• Clinical Med/Surg experience (prior Med/Surg experience preferred)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS preferred or available through employer
• Comfortable with 12.5-hour clinical shifts and the pace of a Med/Surg unit
• Strong communication, critical thinking and prioritization skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-focused environment

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred but ADNs are welcome to apply

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing practices and standards
• Medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) documentation
• Patient assessment, vital sign interpretation and early recognition of deterioration
• Wound care, drainage/tube management and post-op care basics
• Time management, delegation and effective handoff communication
