Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to pediatric med/surg patients
Assess, monitor and document patient condition changes with timely interventions
Administer medications and treatments safely, following facility protocols
Collaborate with physicians, therapists and multidisciplinary team members to create and update care plans
Educate patients and families about conditions, procedures and discharge plans in a clear, supportive way
Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain clinical competency and unit standards
Maintain accurate, timely medical records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
Clinical experience or comfort working in med/surg and pediatric populations preferred
Ability to complete facility orientation and credentialing prior to start

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — facility requirements apply

Knowledge & Skills

Strong pediatric assessment and med/surg nursing skills
Medication administration and IV/infusion experience
Effective communication and teamwork within a fast-paced clinical environment
Accurate electronic medical record documentation and clinical charting
Prioritization, critical thinking and time management in patient care
