Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, evidence-based med/surg nursing care to pediatric patients
- Perform thorough assessments and develop individualized nursing plans
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate each child’s care
- Educate families and caregivers to support recovery and discharge goals
- Maintain clear, timely documentation in the patient record
- Advocate for patient safety and quality outcomes on every shift
- Participate in orientation and unit-based learning to support new clinician success
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California or eligibility to obtain one
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Pediatric-focused certifications (PALS) preferred or encouraged
- Experience or strong interest in medical-surgical and pediatric nursing
- Comfortable working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary pediatric care setting
- Strong communication skills with patients, families and clinical teams
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in pediatric assessment and age-appropriate interventions
- Safe medication administration and IV/infusion management
- Familiarity with infection prevention and pediatric safety protocols
- Effective clinical documentation and handoff communication
- Ability to prioritize, multitask and remain calm under clinical pressure
- Team-oriented mindset with a focus on family-centered care
