Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a medical-surgical unit
• Assess patient condition and implement appropriate nursing interventions
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members to achieve the best outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Monitor patient progress and escalate changes in condition to providers promptly
• Maintain accurate, timely charting and comply with facility policies and standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact privileges as applicable)
• Experience or strong interest in Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) nursing
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS or specialty certifications encouraged if available
• Comfortable working 12.5-hour shifts and adapting to unit staffing needs
• Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in Med/Surg care, including medication administration and wound care
• Skilled in patient assessment, care planning, and clinical documentation
• Familiarity with electronic health records and basic computer skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
• Time management and prioritization skills for high-acuity environments
• Compassionate bedside manner and patient education techniques
