Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a medical-surgical unit
• Assess and monitor patient status, recognizing and escalating changes in condition
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to orders
• Document patient care and clinical observations clearly and timely in the chart
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Respond effectively to emergencies and assist with procedures as needed

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact RN eligible
• Experience or interest in Med/Surg nursing
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications welcomed
• Comfort working 12.5-hour shifts and adapting to unit schedules
• Strong clinical judgment, communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid patient assessment and clinical decision-making abilities
• Medication administration and infusion/IV therapy competence
• Familiarity with wound care and common post-operative management
• Accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team
• Strong communication skills with patients, families and colleagues
