Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality bedside nursing care to medical and surgical patients on a MedSurg float unit
• Monitor telemetry and confirm monitor strips in collaboration with monitor techs
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
• Administer and manage patient care for common med/surg diagnoses including CHF, CVA, SOB, diabetic issues, total joints, fractures and post-op patients
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Respond to respiratory equipment needs, including CPAP, BiPAP and high-flow nasal cannula
• Float confidently between units using the unit-specific float checklist and complete Travel CBO orientation requirements
• Advocate for patient safety and comfort while maintaining professional communication with families and staff

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for submission in the state (License to submit required)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent MedSurg nursing experience
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and confirming strips
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and floating across med/surg areas
• Ability to work every-other-weekend and participate in call/standby as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong MedSurg nursing knowledge and acute care assessment skills
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac strip confirmation
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record charting
• Skilled in respiratory support equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula
• Excellent prioritization, critical thinking and communication skills
• Team-oriented with the flexibility to float and adapt to different unit cultures
