Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to medical-surgical patients
• Assess and monitor patient status, recognizing and escalating changes promptly
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
• Document patient care clearly and timely in the electronic health record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate optimal care plans
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge plans
• Participate in unit-based performance improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact privileges if applicable)
• Experience or comfort working on a Medical-Surgical unit; clinical confidence with 12-hour shifts
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to pass required background checks and meet facility immunization policies

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid medical-surgical nursing knowledge and patient assessment skills
• Medication administration safety and IV therapy familiarity
• Proficiency with electronic health records and clear clinical documentation
• Excellent teamwork, time management, and patient-centered communication
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced hospital environment
