Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity maternal and labor & delivery nursing care with confidence and compassion
• Monitor fetal heart rates and respond promptly to changes to ensure the best outcomes
• Assist and circulate for C-sections and support epidural/spinal procedures in the OR
• Administer and manage IV therapies such as magnesium infusions safely
• Document patient care accurately in Meditech to support continuity and quality
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including NICU and anesthesia, for complex cases
• Support patient experience initiatives by offering calm, clear communication to families

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible to practice in Virginia
• Minimum ~2 years of labor & delivery clinical experience (as noted in job details)
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWOHHN Fetal Heart Rate Intermediate
• Comfortable with high-acuity maternal care and procedures: C-sections, epidurals, spinals, cerclage, version
• Experience with Meditech (documentation system) preferred
• OR scrub/ circulating experience is a strong plus
• Ability to float within women’s & children’s service line

Education

• Active RN license (state of practice required)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred where applicable

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal heart rate monitoring and interpretation
• Inpatient obstetric procedures and perioperative support
• High-acuity maternal assessment and emergency response
• IV therapy skills, including magnesium administration
• Familiarity with Level III NICU workflows and escalation
• Strong patient communication and teamwork in fast-paced L&D units
• Accurate electronic documentation in Meditech
