Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor critically ill patients, recognizing changes in condition quickly
• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in the ICU
• Administer and titrate IV medications and drips safely and accurately
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient care plans
• Operate and troubleshoot critical care equipment (monitors, ventilators) as needed
• Educate and support patients and families during high-stress situations
• Document care clearly and promptly in the patient chart to ensure continuity

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana (or eligibility to obtain one)
• Critical care/ICU clinical experience (prior ICU practice preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS certification strongly preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and provide consistent, high-quality patient care
• Current immunizations and ability to pass background and health screenings
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring
• Ventilator management and respiratory care for critically ill patients
• IV therapy, infusion pumps, and vasoactive medication administration
• Critical thinking, rapid assessment and prioritization in emergency situations
• Teamwork with physicians, respiratory therapists and other critical care staff
• Patient/family education and compassionate bedside manner
