Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality ICU care to adult patients with trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, respiratory distress, renal failure and post-procedure needs
• Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry/ECG strips and document findings in EPIC
• Perform drip titration and manage cardiac, insulin and sedation drips safely and effectively
• Troubleshoot respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to ventilators and collaborate with RTs as needed
• Maintain appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios (typically 1:2-3) and safely float to PCU or MedSurg when required
• Participate in the unit orientation (including a pass/fail skills exam during orientation) and complete required competency checks
• Communicate clearly with the multidisciplinary team, patients and families to support excellent outcomes

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted RN license (state of practice)
• BLS, ACLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Driver's license required at time of submittal
• Minimum of 2 years of ICU/direct critical care experience preferred
• Experience with EPIC charting, telemetry interpretation and drip titration
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts and meeting the requirement of every other weekend
• Must pass orientation open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% (per facility policy)
• Candidates may not be employed FT/PT/PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BSN preferred but not explicitly required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring, including reading and documenting ECG strips
• Drip titration for cardiac, insulin and sedation drips
• Critical care nursing skills for trauma, cardiac, stroke and sepsis patients
• Ventilator troubleshooting and familiarity with High Flow/CPAP/BiPAP
• Strong documentation skills in EPIC
• Ability to prioritize in high-acuity settings and work effectively in a team
• Familiarity with GE monitors and working with tele tech oversight
• Self-scheduling familiarity and flexibility to meet unit staffing needs
