Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Provide direct patient care including medication administration, wound care, and procedures
• Stabilize and monitor critically ill or injured patients with calm, evidence-based actions
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses clearly and promptly in the chart
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement, safety initiatives, and performance goals

Qualifications

• Current RN license (able to hold or obtain NH licensure; compact license accepted where applicable)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred or willing to obtain
• Previous Emergency Department/ER experience preferred; strong critical thinking and triage skills
• Current CPR certification and up-to-date immunizations per facility policy

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred where noted by facility.

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage principles and emergency nursing assessment
• Cardiac rhythm recognition and basic EKG interpretation
• IV therapy, medication administration, and urgent procedures common to the ED
• Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and time-management in busy settings
• Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Accurate electronic charting and documentation practices
