Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the Emergency Department
• Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care
• Administer medications and treatments safely and in line with protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, techs and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes and escalate issues promptly
• Document care thoroughly and maintain accurate medical records
• Deliver compassionate patient and family education in high-stress situations

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required (Louisiana license or compact RN may be required based on facility rules)
• Previous Emergency Department nursing experience preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) highly recommended
• Current ACLS and PALS preferred depending on unit needs
• Ability to pass facility credentialing and background checks

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred by some facilities and for career advancement

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and rapid assessment skills in emergency settings
• Competence in IV therapy, medication administration and emergency interventions
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork under high-acuity conditions
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and remain calm in fast-paced situations
