Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the emergency department
• Perform rapid assessment and triage to prioritize care for critically ill or injured patients
• Administer medications, start IVs and carry out orders safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Document patient conditions, interventions and outcomes clearly in the medical record
• Participate in orientation and ongoing education to maintain ED competencies
• Advocate for patient safety, infection control and compassionate care at every interaction

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky or eligibility through compact licensure
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; advanced certifications such as ACLS preferred for ED roles
• Previous emergency department experience preferred but motivated new grads with strong clinical skills are welcome for per diem orientation-supported roles
• Ability to work per diem shifts and adapt to variable schedules
• Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and rapid assessment of emergency patients
• IV therapy, medication administration and basic emergency procedures
• Critical thinking, quick decision-making and prioritization under pressure
• Clear, timely documentation and handoff communication
• Teamwork, collaboration and effective interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and standard ED workflows
