Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to emergency department patients
- Perform rapid patient assessments and prioritize interventions in urgent situations
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures safely and accurately
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and multidisciplinary team members for coordinated care
- Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the medical record
- Participate in triage, patient stabilization, and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license (eligible to practice in Louisiana)
- Experience or comfort working in an emergency department or high-acuity setting is strongly preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and ability to act quickly under pressure
- Professional communication skills and ability to work well in a team-focused environment
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Triage and emergency nursing care principles
- Trauma assessment and stabilization skills
- Ability to manage multiple high-acuity patients simultaneously
- Familiarity with electronic medical record documentation
- Basic understanding of ED protocols, medications, and emergency procedures
