Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage emergency patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care
• Provide safe administration of medications and treatments according to protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and the ED team to coordinate patient care
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and escalate concerns in a timely manner
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the medical record
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Support a calm, efficient ED environment through clear communication and teamwork

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure, ability to obtain Kentucky licensure if not already held
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Emergency nursing experience preferred but motivated new ED nurses are welcome
• Ability to work flexible per diem schedules including possible nights and weekends
• Strong communication skills and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to complete required orientation and onboarding prior to first shift

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required, BSN preferred or equivalent nursing education

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and rapid patient assessment skills
• Familiarity with ED workflows and common emergency interventions
• Competence with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Medication administration and IV skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritize effectively
• Teamwork, clinical judgment, and patient-centered care focus
