Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients rapidly and accurately in a busy emergency department
• Provide evidence-based nursing care for acute and emergent conditions
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and ancillary staff to create timely care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely, documenting all care thoroughly
• Lead patient handoffs and ensure continuity of care during shift changes
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance ED patient outcomes
• Maintain a calm, professional presence during high-pressure situations

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Hawaii licensure preferred/required per facility
• Emergency Department experience preferred (ED/ER background strongly desired)
• Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS encouraged or preferred depending on unit needs
• Ability to perform rapid assessment and prioritize multiple critically ill patients
• Strong teamwork, communication, and documentation skills
• Immunizations and health screening per facility policy (to be completed prior to start)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Sound knowledge of emergency nursing assessment and triage processes
• Familiarity with fast-paced ED workflows and acute care priorities
• Skilled in IV therapy, medication administration, and emergency interventions
• Effective verbal and written communication with patients and interdisciplinary teams
• Comfortable with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Ability to stay composed under pressure and make timely clinical decisions
