Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based emergency nursing care to patients of all ages
• Rapidly assess and triage patients to prioritize care in a high-acuity environment
• Implement treatment plans and administer medications safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Perform procedures and interventions common to the ED, maintaining meticulous documentation
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up plans
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with hospital policies

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (ability to hold or obtain licensure in Louisiana)
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred or obtainable
• Experience working in an Emergency Department or high-acuity setting preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and ability to prioritize in fast-paced situations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing fundamentals, triage, and rapid assessment
• Familiarity with common ED procedures and interventions
• IV therapy, medication administration, and monitoring
• Accurate electronic health record documentation
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and manage multiple priorities
• Patient- and family-centered communication
