Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the physical therapist in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care
• Implement treatment plans under PT supervision to help patients regain function
• Lead therapeutic exercises and gait training to improve mobility and independence
• Document patient progress accurately and communicate changes to the care team
• Educate patients and families on home programs and safety strategies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to ensure coordinated, effective care
• Maintain therapy equipment and ensure a safe treatment environment
• Advocate for patients’ needs while upholding regulatory and facility standards

Qualifications

• Active or eligible Physical Therapist Assistant license (New Mexico preferred)
• Completion of an accredited PTA program
• Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Comfortable working weekdays, able to commit to the 13-week assignment
• Ability for agency partners to register with the New Mexico caregivers account
• Clear background check and drug screen as required by the facility

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on knowledge of therapeutic exercise techniques and gait training
• Familiarity with modalities commonly used in outpatient/rehab settings
• Strong clinical documentation and charting skills
• Excellent communication and patient education abilities
• Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team
• Good time management and organizational skills in a fast-paced clinic
