Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess post-anesthesia patients closely to ensure safe recovery
• Manage pain control and vital signs, intervening promptly when needed
• Provide airway support and advanced monitoring as required for PACU patients
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to coordinate care and handoffs
• Educate patients and families on post-op care, discharge criteria, and follow-up instructions
• Document patient condition, interventions, and progress accurately and timely
• Respond to emergencies and escalate care according to unit protocols and ACLS guidelines

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (per state requirements)
• Experience working in PACU or post-anesthesia care preferred
• BLS (required)
• ACLS (required)
• NIHSS certification (listed as required)
• Willingness to complete Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty competency testing
• Successful completion of required health screenings and immunizations (COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, Fit Test, 2-step PPD/IGRA, drug screen, color vision)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong post-anesthesia assessment and monitoring skills
• Proficiency with monitoring equipment and documentation systems
• Knowledge of airway management and pain control strategies
• Ability to perform timely clinical decision-making in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for perioperative collaboration
• Familiarity with infection control practices and patient safety protocols
• Comfortable with competency testing and unit-specific procedures
