Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and one-time separation health assessments for Veterans
• Conduct thorough interview-based medical evaluations and focused physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength testing)
• Prepare clear, timely medical documentation and reports, including addendums and medical opinions as needed
• Review diagnostics and incorporate findings into objective, non-treatment evaluations
• Complete required credentialing, onboarding, and portal training to ensure compliance
• Communicate respectfully with Veterans and administrative staff to coordinate appointments and follow-up documentation

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) certification and state licensure (ability to practice in the assigned area)
• Clinical background in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or similar
• Experience with interview-based evaluations and physical assessment techniques (ROM, muscle strength testing) preferred
• Strong medical documentation and report-writing skills with attention to detail
• Ability to complete required onboarding and portal training promptly
• Reliable access to an office within a 50-mile radius (if using own office) or ability to work at a local VES facility

Education

• Master’s or post-graduate degree as a Nurse Practitioner (NP); APRN/NP certification and current state licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of general medicine and disability evaluation principles
• Familiarity with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exam procedures and separation health assessments
• Proficiency in physical exam techniques (range of motion, muscle strength testing)
• Excellent clinical documentation and medical report-writing skills
• Comfort performing non-treatment evaluations and forming objective medical opinions
• Ability to read basic diagnostics and integrate findings into evaluations
