Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct one-time Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with compassion and attention to detail
• Perform interview-based clinical evaluations and focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Prepare clear, professional non-treatment reports, addendums, and medical opinions in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate documentation and review diagnostic information as required
• Follow required training and credentialing processes and complete assigned onboarding tasks
• Coordinate with VES administrative staff to ensure smooth exam scheduling and follow-up

Qualifications

• Licensed Nurse Practitioner (active license in the state of practice)
• Clinical background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, general medicine, or prior experience with C&P exams
• Comfortable performing interview-based exams and physical assessments such as ROM and muscle strength testing
• Strong clinical documentation skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work non-treatment exams (no prescribing or therapeutic management in this role)
• Own office within 50 miles of the listed city for the own-office option, or ability to travel to a VES facility within 50 miles
• Willingness to complete required trainings and credentialing processes

Education

• Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (NP)

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in interview-based clinical evaluation and non-treatment exam workflows
• Skilled in range of motion and muscle strength assessment techniques
• Proficient clinical documentation, including addendums and medical opinions
• Ability to interpret and reference diagnostic information as needed
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate respectfully with Veterans
• Time management and self-directed work habits for PRN/per diem practice
