Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough, one-time non-treatment Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments
• Conduct focused patient interviews to document medical history and functional limitations
• Perform physical assessments as needed, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Prepare clear, timely medical reports and addendums following each exam
• Review diagnostics and provide concise medical opinions where requested
• Adhere to non-treatment exam protocols — no prescribing or ongoing treatment
• Complete required onboarding and training to meet client standards

Qualifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the state of practice, or eligibility to obtain one
• Clinical background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
• Experience with medical interviewing, physical assessment (ROM and muscle strength testing), and clinical documentation
• Comfort performing non-treatment, examination-based evaluations (C&P experience is a plus)
• Ability to maintain a private office for veteran exams OR be within a 50-mile radius of the assigned VES facility
• Willingness to complete required training and timely onboarding (portal/DMA training required prior to starting)

Education

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with NP certification (or equivalent NP credentialing)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in medical interviewing and focused history-taking
• Proficient in range of motion and muscle strength assessment techniques
• Strong clinical documentation and medical report-writing skills
• Familiarity with non-treatment exam workflows and standards for Compensation & Pension evaluations
• Ability to interpret diagnostic tests and incorporate findings into concise opinions
• Comfort using clinical portals and completing required online training
