IR Technologist (Interventional Radiology)

Location: Bakersfield, California

Start Date: 06-12-2026

End Date: 09-11-2026

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, with rotational call after hours and weekends (Friday 4 PM to Monday 7:30 AM)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $83 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Perform interventional radiology procedures including dialysis catheter placements, IVC filter insertions, TIPPS, and CT biopsy support
Operate GE Innova imaging systems, MedRad injectors, and Angiojet thrombectomy devices
Collaborate with a team of IR technologists, RNs, and radiology assistants to ensure smooth patient flow and high-quality care
Maintain sterile technique and adhere to safety protocols in a fast-paced environment
Participate in on-call rotation covering nights, weekends, and holidays to provide 24/7 coverage
Document procedures accurately in CERNER/RADNET electronic medical records

Qualifications

ARRT certification in Radiography (RT)(R) required; additional certification in Vascular Interventional (VI) strongly preferred
California state license as a Radiologic Technologist (CRT) required
Minimum 1 year of experience in Interventional Radiology preferred
BLS certification from AHA required; ACLS preferred
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge & Skills

Proficient in interventional radiology procedures and equipment including GE Innova, MedRad injectors, and Angiojet
Strong understanding of sterile technique, radiation safety, and patient positioning
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction and team collaboration
Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing case volumes (2-4 cases per day on average)
Familiarity with CERNER and/or RADNET electronic medical record systems
