Family Birthing Center Nurse
Location: Salida, CO
Start Date: 05-11-2026
End Date: 08-10-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating night shifts, 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM, schedule includes weekends and holidays as needed (36 hours/week)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $88 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor laboring mothers and neonates, responding to changes in condition promptly
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and providers
- Provide patient and family education, including breastfeeding support and infant care instruction
- Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record
- Assist physicians with procedures and collaborate closely with the nursery team for mother/baby couplet care
- Stabilize patients in emergency situations and initiate appropriate interventions per protocol
- Support onboarding and skill-building for fellow FBC staff and assist other units during emergencies
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and uphold unit standards for patient-centered care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado (required)
- Minimum Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program
- 2+ years of LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required); PALS and NRP preferred
- Comfortable with electronic documentation / EHR systems and accurate charting
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and perform physical aspects of patient care
Education
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in patient assessment, care planning, and continuous monitoring during labor and postpartum
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with EHR workflows
- Neonate care knowledge including breastfeeding education and nursery collaboration
- Emergency response and stabilization skills for maternal and neonatal events
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to coordinate with providers and nursing staff
- Patient education and counseling to promote maternal and newborn wellness
