Roles & Responsibilities

• Process and manage electronic claims transmissions using EDI standards with accuracy and attention to detail
• Validate claim data, identify errors, and troubleshoot submission issues to reduce denials
• Collaborate with payers, clearinghouses, and internal teams to resolve rejections and payment inquiries
• Monitor claim statuses and follow through on resubmissions to ensure timely adjudication
• Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for all claims activity
• Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and claims throughput

Qualifications

• Experience with EDI claims processing and familiarity with payer submission workflows
• Knowledge of ANSI X12 transaction sets (such as 837/835) preferred
• Strong attention to detail and demonstrated problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication for working with payers and internal partners
• Prior non-clinical healthcare billing or claims experience preferred
• Comfortable working independently in a contract role and meeting project deadlines

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate’s or Bachelor's in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of EDI standards and claims transmission processes
• Familiarity with claims adjudication and denial management
• Basic knowledge of healthcare coding concepts (ICD-10, CPT) is helpful
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to work with data extracts
• Experience with issue tracking/ticketing systems and documentation best practices
