Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist in a wide range of surgical procedures including ortho trauma, craniotomies and burr holes, total joint cases, ENT, cystoscopy and robotic general cases (appendectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy)
• Serve as proficient first assist when needed, supporting surgeons during complex cases
• Operate and troubleshoot robotic systems (DaVinci) and set up robotic cases safely and efficiently
• Prepare and maintain sterile field, surgical instruments and specialty tables (Hanah, Jackson, vascular and robot beds)
• Document perioperative care accurately in Meditech and communicate patient status to the team
• Participate in unit call rotation and weekend coverage while maintaining high patient safety standards
• Collaborate with nurses, anesthesiologists and surgeons to ensure efficient workflow and optimal patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) and First Assist experience required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2+ years OR experience at a Level II or higher facility
• Proven proficiency with DaVinci robotic systems and robotic general procedures
• Hands-on experience with ortho trauma cases, crani procedures and burr holes
• Comfortable with cystoscopy, ENT and total joint procedures
• Familiarity with Meditech documentation and specialty OR equipment

Education

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification
• First Assist training/credential preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
• Robotic surgery setup and troubleshooting (DaVinci experience)
• Patient positioning for ortho, neuro and robotic cases
• Expertise with specialty OR tables and beds (Hanah, Jackson, vascular, robot beds)
• Clear communication and teamwork in fast-paced OR environments
• Clinical documentation skills using Meditech
