Roles & Responsibilities

Perform detailed audits of provider medical records to validate ICD-10 and CPT code accuracy and ensure documentation compliance
Compile clear, actionable audit reports with analysis and findings that help improve coding accuracy and clinical documentation
Communicate audit observations to physicians and midlevel providers, delivering constructive feedback and education to improve documentation
Design and implement tools and education plans in coordination with the Revenue Cycle Manager to support better physician documentation
Train new revenue cycle team members on coding and documentation guidelines to raise overall team performance
Support coding and billing staff with expert coding guidance and perform coding procedures as needed
Maintain an audit lodge and meet established productivity targets for record reviews
Assist the Revenue Cycle Manager with evaluation of coding activities and performance reviews of revenue cycle personnel when required

Qualifications

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
Associate degree in a related field required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
Minimum five (5) years of inpatient and outpatient coding and auditing experience
Proven experience coding professional claims in a medical office-based or multi-specialty group practice setting preferred
Strong experience interacting with physicians and providing documentation feedback and education
Comfortable working fully onsite in Dover, DE

Education

Associate Degree, related field (required)
Bachelor Degree, related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

Expertise in CPT, ICD-10 and professional (physician) coding
Medical record auditing and documentation compliance review
Ability to compile audit reports and analyze coding trends
Experience with inpatient and outpatient coding across multiple specialties
Strong communication and provider education skills
Familiarity with revenue cycle processes, charge entry, and audit reporting
