Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct resident care, assisting with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor residents’ conditions and report changes promptly to nursing staff
- Assist with feeding and nutritional needs while promoting dignity and independence
- Support safe transfers and positioning to reduce fall risk and maintain comfort
- Document care activities and observations accurately and timely
- Collaborate with the care team to deliver person-centered care and contribute to positive outcomes
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification — required
- Valid state CNA certification for Connecticut (or ability to obtain)
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB testing as required by facility
- Background check and drug screen clearance
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced long-term/post-acute care setting
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-first attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current CNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic resident care and activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Ability to follow care plans and nursing direction
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Safe transfer and body mechanics knowledge
- Compassionate bedside manner and teamwork
- Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
