Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on patient care in an acute care setting
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding) while preserving dignity
• Monitor and record patient vital signs and promptly report changes to the nursing team
• Support nurses with bedside tasks, admissions, discharges and safe patient transfers
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the patient record
• Follow infection control protocols and facility safety standards to protect patients and staff
• Communicate clearly and kindly with patients, families and the care team to enhance patient experience
• Participate actively in shift handoffs to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (state of Hawaii) or eligible to obtain
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification (preferred or required by facility)
• Prior experience in acute care or similar fast-paced clinical environment preferred
• Ability to pass background checks, drug screening and required health screenings
• Strong communication skills, reliability, and a team-first attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an approved CNA training program and state certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on patient care techniques for acute care populations
• Infection control and patient safety practices
• Basic clinical observation: taking and reporting vital signs
• Charting and documentation accuracy (paper or EHR systems)
• Time management and ability to prioritize in busy clinical shifts
• Compassionate bedside manner and effective teamwork
