Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, client-centered occupational therapy assistance to help patients regain function and independence
• Implement treatment plans developed by the occupational therapist and document progress clearly
• Conduct therapeutic activities, adaptive techniques, and assistive device training under supervision
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on home programs and safe, practical strategies to support recovery
• Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with facility policies and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential
• Eligible for or holding California COTA licensure or registration as required
• Prior experience in occupational therapy settings preferred; open to strong new grads
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Ability to lift/move patients and perform physical tasks as part of treatment

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
• Completion of COTA certification requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADL) training and adaptive equipment
• Skill in implementing therapeutic activities and documenting measurable outcomes
• Knowledge of safety, infection control, and patient handling best practices
• Comfortable working within an interdisciplinary team and following OT treatment plans
• Good clinical judgment, organization, and time management
