Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered neuro stepdown nursing care for adult patients
• Perform focused neurologic and hemodynamic assessments and respond to changes quickly
• Administer medications and therapies safely while documenting care accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families about condition, care plans and discharge needs with compassion
• Prioritize patient safety by following unit protocols, escalation pathways and infection prevention practices
• Help with smooth transitions of care, including admissions, transfers and discharges

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred
• Clinical experience in stepdown, telemetry or neuro units is preferred
• Strong assessment skills, critical thinking and the ability to manage prioritized patient loads
• Reliable professional references and a patient-first attitude

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of neurologic assessments and common neuro stepdown diagnoses
• Experience with cardiac/telemetry monitoring and recognition of arrhythmias
• Medication administration best practices and IV therapy competence
• Effective communication skills with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation and clinical workflows
